“Madonna and Child”, Quentin Massey - description of the painting

Madonna and Child - Quentin Massey. 130 x 86 cm

The Mother of God with a baby in her arms, Quentin Massey, portrayed magnificently and brilliantly! The painting was painted in 1495, has a religious orientation. In Renaissance painting, the artist created many works commissioned by churches and monasteries. His favorite topic was women - Madonnas with small children in their arms. They were idolized and worshiped as icons.

The painting depicts the divine Virgin Mary with a baby in her arms. She is sitting on a throne reading a book. The Mother of God is dressed in a long luxurious lilac robe. Her blond hair is loose; there is a halo decoration on the head; forehead high and open; eyes down. A woman is full of wisdom and charm.

She holds a baby in a white vest. He looks with interest at the book. In all likelihood, this is the Bible or a collection of church prayers. The kid does not yet know the ABCs and letters, but with his heart he feels every line in this gentleman's textbook. He pressed his hand to his chest and consciously peers into the holy scripture. He feels good and warm with his mother. She is his protection and support in life. It is pleasant and touching to contemplate the picture! She gives warmth, joy, tenderness, good. The whole composition is permeated with the light of divine love. Motherhood adorns life and the Universe, streaming with a golden stream throughout the planet. So it was and will be at all times!

Madonna sits in the hall with a ceremonial decoration. The regal grandeur of the room gives the image brightness, splendor, expressiveness. The artist used light brown colors, tones and shades in his work. He worked diligently, painstakingly, with great inspiration. The picture brought him great success and public recognition.

The composition "Madonna and Child" brings peace and happiness on earth. It gives people beauty, harmony, perfection, good luck. Brilliant creation is commendable.
