At the open window - Konstantin Egorovich Makovsky. 38.8 x 39

The many-faced and many-sided Konstantin Makovsky could be either a dry academician in imitation of Bryullov, or a social denunciator like Perov, or even a detailed portrait painter, whom the emperor himself and his close ones honored. In this work, Makovsky can be compared to a romantic impressionist, such as Renoir, who subtly feels and hears a mundane plot.

In the picture, a girl in a fashionable hat with a graceful ribbon, which opened a large wooden window, leaned out to look at the courtyard, or maybe someone would hail or watch something that caught her attention. We see the heroine only from the back, and therefore we can not say anything about her appearance, however, this does not mean at all that she does not want to be examined. On the contrary, Makovsky so filigree depicted the play of sunlight on her beige hat and blouse, that you involuntarily begin to admire these highlights.

A separate word deserves green flowers in pots. Among artists, green is considered very insidious - a bright shade of green is very difficult to harmonize on the canvas, but Makovsky succeeds in this filigree. Fresh, saturated green color became his peculiar calling card, and he boldly used it in his works.

The picture seems to us sentimental and somewhat intimate, and its creator is observant, romantic and, of course, incredibly talented.
