Victor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov (Sadko), Repin

Victor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov - Ilya Efimovich Repin. 73 x 64 cm

This painting is an expressive image created using a combination of two techniques - volumetric painting with spectacular large strokes and the character's carefully painted face.

The famous Russian artist V. Vasnetsov is depicted in the form of the legendary epic hero Sadko. This interesting point reflects the activities of Vasnetsov himself - he became famous as the author of numerous canvases dedicated to Russian fairy tales, epics and legends.

On the canvas, the character is depicted in profile, on an unexpressed, iridescent bluish-yellow shades background. He is dressed in a voluminous coat and a fur hat with brocade top - a typical outfit of a Russian boyar. Although the clothes are written in outline, its texture and volume are well read, it is felt that the fur is lush and fluffy.

The picture is dominated by dark tones, which allows you to capture the attention of the audience on the expressive face of the character. The profile of the great artist is lit from above, as if by cold moonlight or starlight. This clearly distinguishes it from a blurry background. Unlike everything else, the character's face is depicted very clearly and expressively, in all details. This inspired appearance remains in the memory of all museum visitors for a long time.
